Church Neglect & Molestations
Clergy and their staff are generally the last persons one would suspect of child abuse and molestation. Children have been raised to trust these individuals and are often reluctant to share with others when that trust has been violated. In many instances, the encounters result from a failure to properly screen or supervise the offending individual. Church staff, on the other hand, may be aware of the encounter but are fearful of notifying authorities for fear of retaliation. Although difficult, those later learning of the conduct believe it is necessary to take action so as to prevent further harm to innocent children.
